system allows you to select wines and spirits from our catalog page (or
browse and e-mail from our stock page) and submit the order to us via the
internet. However, we do not ask for your credit card at that time.
A lot of you may
be wondering why we don't just provide a "secure server" so that you can
safely complete your order. Well, for one thing, we don't really want to
analyze the current situation regarding safety and security of credit card
numbers over the internet. Anyhow, while many people may be using browsers
that provide encryption technology that likely make ordering over the internet
a safe as any other credit card transaction, there are still a number of
people who do not have that capability.
But There Is A Far
More Important Reason
Given that what we sell
are alcoholic beverages, we are entrusted with the responsibility not to
provide such products to persons not legally entitled to receive them.
This might be due to a person's age or locale. Asking you to give us your
phone number so that we may call you back (or you may call us on our U.S.
toll-free line) gives us the opportunity to assure that we are dealing
within the constraints of the law.
We thank you for
